Chapters[]

Synopsis[]

Manga editor Ritsu Onodera is still giving it his all working under bossy editor in chief—and first love—Masamune Takano. And unfortunately, Ritsu runs—yet again—into Masamune’s nemesis Haitani, who this time asks him out! Of course, Takano is having none of it, but Haitani is quick to remind him that Ritsu isn’t his possession. Will all this pressure from his rivaling suitors finally extinguish the feelings Ritsu reluctantly carries for his old flame?[1]

Plot[]

In "The Case of Ritsu Onodera No.20," Marimo Bookstore is keen on doing a promotional activity, which leads Ritsu to go to a meeting with Takano to learn about the promotion. After the meeting, Takano leans in to kiss Ritsu, but as usual, Ritsu pushes him away. Takano then questions Ritsu about the status of their relationship. Wanting Ritsu's feelings for him to grow, Takano wants to take things to the next level, but Ritsu's wishy-washy and stubborn feelings are preventing that. Haitani later meets with Onodera to return a book he borrowed, and asks Ritsu to date him. Takano intervenes, but Haitani says that it's none of his business since him and Onodera aren't a couple anyway. Ritsu is then dragged back to Takano's apartment and Takano asks Ritsu to hurry up and admit that he loves him so that Takano can say that they're lovers outright. Ritsu then confesses to himself about how if Takano didn't intervene, he would have told Haitani that he already had someone that he loves. Ritsu and Takano then have sex. During this time, Takano once again asks Ritsu to admit his love for him already. In the morning, Takano finds a lovey-dovey magazine that Ritsu owns and teases him for reading it for the purpose wanting to flirt with Takano so badly.

In "The Case of Ritsu Onodera No.21," the Emerald editing department receives the CEO Award from Ryuichiro Isaka for an onsen trip, which is inconveniently scheduled at the end of their publication cycle. As the editing department struggle to meet their earlier deadlines, Takano invites Ritsu to eat dinner with him. On his way home, Onodera sees his co-worker Kanade Mino having an argument with his son over not conveying how he feels. From this experience, Onodera understands that he needs to tell Takano about his feelings clearly, but has trouble expressing it. Onodera and Takano take the train together and Ritsu struggles to confess, but is able to tell him just a little bit. They end up falling asleep on the train and miss their stop, which results in them heading for a hotel. Unfortunately for Ritsu, the only room available has one double bed. Takano and Ritsu end up sleeping together and Takano asks Ritsu to just confess already. They have sex while Ritsu still questions how to convey his love to him.

In "The Case of Ritsu Onodera No.22," the Emerald editing team goes on the onsen trip and Mino's son Yamato ends up coming as well. After trip to the onsen, Ritsu and Takano makes plans to go out the next day. They overhear Yamato and Mino in a fight, and Yamato is upset that Mino never pays attention to him and he runs off. Ritsu finds him in the woods and they talk, and Ritsu realizes that Yamato just feels lonely. He gets Yamato to talk about how he feels with Mino. By doing this, Ritsu also notices that he struggles with the same problem with conveying his thoughts to Takano. The next day, they visit Takano's grandmother's grave. They head back to the hotel and Ritsu finally starts to open communication with Takano such as by asking general questions such as Takano's favorite subject in high school, and Takano realizes it's because Ritsu cares to know more about him. Flustered, Ritsu heads to his hotel room and Takano follows, suggesting that Ritsu tried to seduce him by saying that he wanted to know everything about Takano because he cares. Finally learning from his mistakes, Ritsu confesses that he does want to know everything and they begin to have sex, but then Kisa begins knocking on the door needing some things, interrupting the moment. Later, a typhoon rolls in, causing all flights and train services to cancel, stranding the team at the onsen.

In "The Case of Ritsu Onodera No.22.5," being stormed in, Ritsu and Takano have to share a room because the hotel doesn't have enough rooms for their extended stay. The rain reminds Takano of when Ritsu brought him an umbrella in high school, and the two recount. Takano kisses Ritsu, who is flustered because they're in a hallway. Kisa comes around the corner calling for Ritsu to go to the onsen again, seemingly oblivious to why Takano is irritated or what else is going on.
