Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi Wiki

This is a list of episodes, OVAs, and more for the anime Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi.

Adaptation[]

The anime series adapts both the manga series and the light novel series. It focuses predominantly on the manga storyline The Case of Ritsu Onodera, as well as The Case of Shouta Kisa and The Case of Chiaki Yoshino. The light novel series The Case of TakafumiYokozawa was later adapted into a film. An episode in the second season also adapts a Junjou Romantica storyline Junjou Mistake.

The anime is mostly a faithful adaptation of the original series', although it is sexually toned down. While it still includes some brief sex scenes, it sometimes fades to black before it gets too graphic or replaces sexual scenes with mere kisses. This is most notable with regards to Chiaki Yoshino's original rape scene which instead fades out after Yoshiyuki Hatori kisses him, suggesting that nothing else happened. This also happens in several scenes between Ritsu Onodera and Masamune Takano, in which the anime replaces some sexual fondling with kissing.

Release[]

Japan[]

The first installment of the anime series was the OVA No love's like to the first, which was released as a DVD bundled with the limited edition of the fifth manga volume on March 22nd, 2011.

Season 1 aired on television in Japan from April 9th, 2011 to June 24th, 2011. It was later made available on six DVDs, with the first DVD released on June 24th, 2011, and the sixth released on November 25th, 2011.

The second OVA The quarrel of lovers is the renewal of love was released as a DVD bundled with the limited edition of the sixth manga volume on September 27th, 2011.

Season 2 aired on television in Japan from October 7th, 2011 to December 23rd, 2011. It was later made available on six DVDs, with the first released on December 22nd, 2011, and the sixth released on May 25th, 2012.

The full anime series including both OVAs was re-released on Blu-Ray in a box set on January 31st, 2014, just a few months before the release of the film.

The film The Case of Takafumi Yokozawa was released in theaters on March 15th, 2014. It was released on DVD on August 29th, 2014.

English[]

The 24 episodes of the anime series were available on Crunchyroll with English subtitles under the title "Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi - World's Greatest First Love". The series has been available since 2011. This does not include the two OVAs or the film.

In 2017, Funimation released the anime series with both OVAs on DVD with English subtitles under the title "Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi". This was Funimation's first boys love/yaoi release.

The anime series has not been dubbed into English, and the film has not been made officially available with English subtitles.

German[]

The acquisition by Kazé Deutschland of Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi for a German release was first announced June 15th, 2021, with an unknown release date. [1] It was formally announced in late 2021 that it was slated for an estimated release date of April 2022. [2] It would late be announced that this release would feature both the original Japanese as well as German dubbing. This dubbing would only include the TV anime episodes, OVA 2, and Proposal Edition, as The Case of Takafumi Yokozawa, Valentine’s Edition, and OVA 1 are each missing M&E tracks required for dubbing. Those specific adaptations would be released in the original Japanese with German subtitles. [3]

It would go on to be delayed multiple times for unspecified reasons. The initial estimated release of April 2022 was delayed until July 21st, 2022 and after one final delay, the first DVD was successfully released September 15th, 2022 covering Season 1’s first six episodes. [4]

On August 25th, 2022, before copies of the first DVD and Blu Ray sets were being shipped out, Kazé apologized via social media concerning the disc that came in the DVD set. On the picture side of the disc, there was a red line that wasn’t intentional that was caused by a scratch in the printing plate used to create the design. It didn’t affect the ability to use the disc for its intended purpose, so they went forward with distributing it. They cited their concern for the environmental repercussions of reprinting the discs would cause as their reason for going forward with distribution. [5]

The first look at the dub was originally planned for April 19th, 2022[6] but would go on to be premiered on Kazé Deutschland’s Twitch channel on July 26th, 2022[7], where the German dub actors for Chiaki Yoshino and Yoshiyuki Hatori, Dennis Saemann and Vincent Fallow respectively, commentated on the episode alongside two others. When the episode was over, the two were interviewed about their roles and the series in general. As of the updating of this page, a highlight of the event remains public on the Kazé Deutschland Twitch channel.[8]

Kazé Deutschland went on to release more clips over the next couple of months to announce some of the other main cast members leading up to the first DVDs release, which included Season 1’s Episode 1 through Episode 6. These clips were uploaded on both the official Twitter page as well as the official Youtube channel. Refer to the video section below for a look at the youtube clips.

TV Anime Eye Catches[]

An eye catch is a short sequence that plays when a series is going into and coming back from a commercial break. Tinkle would often appear during this time, with only a few exceptions, such as during Love is Without Reason and Love is a Bitter-Sweet. Below is a gallery of all the different iterations of his appearances in the eye catch segments.
